Lets go home See the world! Back to Blighty! Whats happening

Arrived in Shanghai

29 September 2005

So we arrived in Shanghai and fell straight into the thick of finding a flat and finding Kate a job.

Shanghai immediately strikes as a very large city - so no surprise there. In fact it probably has the most impressive skyline we have seen. The Chinese are certainly not afraid of Ultra modern architecture. What's more the stories we heard about the city changing so fast are not exaggerated. My route to work is never quite the same. Not because the navigation changes, but because the buildings on the route change! In summary, it is rather like leaving in Sim City with much of the city inhabiting the 2050s but with some bits still languishing in the mid 1800s.

Walking The Great Wall

Visit to Beijing (10th October)
Beijing, the mother of Chinese Tourist spots. The Great Wall, the Forbidden Palace.

So we had only been here just over a week when we hit the Chinese National Holiday. What better time to visit the noble capital than the week when everyone will be visiting it too!
