Thailand
Thailand is a big place and we only have three headings up here. Among the other places we visited were Chiang Mai, Krabi and Rayleigh. But a few places have really been lumped into Tonsai and other places we didn't get many shots of due to a disaster with our camera breaking. (We may get some replacements from the Aussie photograper Alex, hopefully)
So anyway, arriving in Thailand was certainly a relief after India. Not that we hated India, in fact we totally loved it but Thailand is pretty well developed and Bangkok is as civilised as any city in the UK, in fact more so. So we needed a bit of an easy time and were duely provided it with ten days on our butts in Bangkok.
Thais love celebrations (there seemed to be constant festivals, some religious and others seculat such as 'Wonderful Thailand' day and the Kings Birthday. And that's another point, they absolutely love their king. In the cinema everyone stands up and sings the national anthem while film reel of the King in various kingly postures is played. More than that though they genuinely like him and from what we saw he does seem like an OK chap (although one or two travellers did recount rumours to the contrary).
